Life begins at nearly 50!

It seems surreal that just over 3 years ago my daily life consisted of standing in front of a classroom of 25+ teenagers, declaring the contributions that the literary classics had made to the world! The first steps to my change in career came with a jump into private tutoring and the establishment of my business - which has provided me with a great platform to continue my passion for teaching young adults and share my passion for reading and writing (That remains unchanged)

However, a chance conversation, whilst pottering on the canals near Coventry with fellow 'artie' type, pointed me towards yet another outlet for my artistic passion. So, it was with a sense of excitement that I signed up for a course in silversmith at Grimsby College. It really won't have suprised my close friends and family that I took to it...having spent most of my spare time doing DIY in allo f the houses we have lived in. I am never happier than when I am knocking down walls and up to my armpits in cement or worse!

It initially started off as a way to save money by making my own pieces of jewellery in silver whilst keeping our 3 daughters drapsed in jewellery. Christmas presents and birthdays were suddenly very easy to cater for. But it didn't stop there. Gradually, their friends saw what I had made and the orders started to trickle in. Little by little, this venture has developed into something that today means I am launching my own online shop.

I try to cater for a range of styles and listen to what people want. I don't spend ages designing pieces but often just sit and see how a piece evolves and develops. It emerges. My skills continue to develop as well.

Yes, I'm am a spontaneous person but that makes life exciting anad interesting.

Yes, I'm a little nervous about this new venture.

And Yes, I am as always eternally grateful for the support of my family and friends in their honest comments. Keep them coming...
